A Bengali Marriage includes many rituals and ceremonies that can span several days. In most cases, it starts with the Kabin ceremony (the official registration of the wedding and presenting Denmohor or Mahr) and ends with the Bou Bhat ceremony (the wedding reception, a day after the marriage, usually arranged by the groom's family). Though the rituals differ with the various districts of Bengal, among Hindus, it is usually classified into two: the Ghoti and Bangal rituals.

Bengali Gandhabanik Brides and Grooms—-Gandhabaniks are a  Bengali Hindu trading caste, who as their caste name suggests, traditionally used to trade in perfumes, incense and exotic spices. The lineage of the Gandhabaniks can be traced from the nine gotras namely Alimyan, Bharadwaj, Kashyap, Krishnatreya, Moudgalya, Nrisingha, Ram rishi, Sabarna and Sandilya. The Gandhabanik society is traditionally divided into four groups namely Desh, Sangha, Abat and Santrish.The family names of the Desh are Saha, Sadhu, Laha, Khan and Rudra. The family names of the Auts are Datta, Dhar, Dhar and Nag. The Gandhabaniks, being traders, have traditionally settled along the urban centres in Bengal, mostly along the banks of Hooghly. In eastern Bengal they were mostly concentrated in the Dhaka-Vikrampur region and other urban localities. After the partition the Gandhabaniks from the eastern districts like Jessore and Faridpur, migrated to West Bengal.In the time of searching matrimonial alliance Gandhabanik families also like to settle marriage within their own community,but often they do not mind to arrange marriage in other higher community also.

Bengali Namasudra Brides and GroomsNamasudra (also Namassej or Namassut) is the name of an Indian community originally from certain regions of Bengal, India. They were traditionally engaged in cultivation and as boatmen.Namasudra brides and grooms hold surnames Mondal, Biswas, Sarkar, Kirtania, Ray, Halder, Hira etc. Traditionally inter caste marriage was not allowed but this is changing.

Malayalee Pre Wedding Rituals–
The Malayalees start the preparation of wedding, well before the ceremony. Thereafter, the families of the prospective bride and the groom await for the wedding day, with a lot of expectations and anxiety.
Malayalee Wedding Rituals–
Malayalee wedding is a very short and crisp ceremony, which is held in the morning. The most preferred location to conduct a typical Malayalee wedding is the maternal house of the bride. However, with the passing time, people are opting for a more convenient venue for both the families of the bride and the groom, say, the auditorium of a nearby temple or the temple itself.
Malayalee Post Wedding Rituals–
Malayalee post-wedding rituals are limited to grihapravesham and traditional feasting, which makes the entire ceremony a very brief one. The one-day-long wedding is also followed by feasting at the bride and thereafter, at the relatives' places. Brief though, it is very touching to see the bride enters her 'new home', prosper the groom and his family's life.
